Confidence and attitude are two attributes that not everyone has! These are usually developed while growing up and influenced by family or those we associate with.
As we go about our daily lives we should always carry with us a good attitude and show confidence in everything we do. Even when things get a little sideways and sometimes difficult to handle we should always keep a good attitude.
As we prepare for our training sessions we need to clear our heads of outside influence and concentrate on the task that is ahead of us. Training. Entering into the training area with a clear mind and focus on the task will make the training session much more enjoyable, you will learn easier and retain more. Classes are usually one hour in length, as my Instructors would tell us in class “You are here only one hour, clear your mind and train hard, leave it all on the mat”. I also pass this statement on to my students at Progressive Self Defense Systems. If you have something going on in your life training will help you clear your mind and help you see things in a different perspective.
This confidence and attitude are two thing you need to have with you when you are out and about in your daily life. Remember, body language can tell a lot about a person without a word being spoken. If you don’t do it now, I suggest you start walking and carrying yourself with confidence and an attitude of a winner. When you walk into a room of people, own the room with confidence. In business, if you are going into a boardroom for a meeting, or an interview own the room with your confidence.
The criminal on the street choose their potential victims through an interview. As the potential victim you have no idea this is taking place. The criminal will watch you from a distance and assess what he has. They will determine if you are worthy of an assault, scam or even worse. They also do this in a close encounter by asking to assist you with something like carrying a package for you, asking for directions or to “borrow some change.” Having confidence in yourself to take on this person head on with good choice speech, strong body language and knowledge that you can protect yourself could help deter this criminal element from making you his victim.
